Made by someone who left the games industry.
I spent five years as a game developer. I walked away when I realized games had stopped being games — they'd become products, engineered to squeeze players with monetization and pull them into the freemium loop. Electron is my answer to that: a game that respects you instead of farming you.
- 2019
Built as a reaction
After leaving the industry, I built Electron in Unity on nights and weekends — the anti-freemium game I wished existed. No ads, a symbolic price, and your score as the only currency to unlock and upgrade power-ups. I poured real money into polishing it with freelancers.
- 99%
Then it gathered dust
It reached 99% done — and never shipped. When I decided to step away from games, I shelved it. For years it sat in a git repo, finished but unreleased, frozen in Unity 2018.
- 2026
Finally alive
A month ago I finally restarted it — upgraded Unity 2018 to Unity 6, rebuilt for modern iOS and Android, added power-ups and polish, all on the same principle: respect the player instead of exploiting them. It is now in review on the App Store and Google Play.
Why $0.99
Less than half a coffee, once. It funds one developer making something with care — and it means the game never needs to sell ads or track you. Bonus: that dollar helps keep all of SmileyTech.mk's projects alive, so a purchase doubles as a no-strings way to say thanks.
